You are Here is a site specific installation situated in the map library at UofT.  As a student I used to work in the map library at York University.  Of course maps are fascinating in what they tell us and don’t tell us about the places they represent and more so our relationships to these geographies. The aerial view provides a ‘god’s eye view’ as we try to orient our bodies to and in space.

Having lived in Toronto for some time, having lived in a number of locales, having had various relationships and having left myself in some of these places (or they have left themselves in me) the video installation marks some of these locations with my body parts.  A video, embedded in the map, shows my naked and rotating body as a mirror reflects the light and addresses the viewing audience.
